Tran Trance Chance Dance

• Today's top story: Pilot Skateboards' own Corey Dowds was recently interviewed on Good Morning America. And so now he's famous.

• In other news, FancyNerds everywhere will believe it when they see it.

• Also, Enormasurus - the world's greatest make-believe band - has been one-upped by the cats at Superdeluxe. Pun intended, ho's.

• It's a short post. I'm on the phone.

March Madness: Frontrunners and Upsets

• I have been recently overwhelmed with new music that I really like, which is an invigorating feeling. I have, therefore, decided to issue the CFY,K Official Early Picks for The Best Song of 2007. They are as follows:

Rehab, by Amy Winehouse, which is exactly the song that should have come out this year. Me and Thee Famousperson were talking last year about how this sort of thing couldn't have been far off, since the best box set evar came out. (That's right, Nuggets. I said it.) Winehouse and producer Mark Ronson get shit absolutely right, ending up with pitch-perfect pop awesomeness.

Imagine, by Lil Wayne, is a mixtape cut, during which the incredibly-prolific Weezy F. Baby raps over the same beat from Nas' If I Ruled the World. This track earns its spot based on this one moment where, if this was the "original," Lauryn Hill would come in on the chorus, but it's not the original, and we're left with Wayne simply stating, voice drenched in nihilism, "Get high, screw the world." And it's the best rap line I've heard since "I need vegetables \ Is weed vegetables?"

New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down, by LCD Soundsystem. This song's placement on this list may owe significantly to the idea that I have lately been obsessed with songs that are excellent night-enders. This song is an excellent anything-ender.

What do you guys think? Certainly, according to you, I have left something out.

Dorkin' Out On St. Patrick's Day

• Thee Famous Person, in the midst of meeting up with old friends and Grupthink denizens, was, apparently, at the same show as the Status Ain't Hood guy.

• I have been dying to play a little Man Cup lately. Also, I caved today on my new FFF (that's "Fast Food Free") lifestyle. That Big Bacon Classic had no idea what it was in for. Afterwards, though, I felt the dirty guilt.

• You probably saw it on Pitchfork already and everything, fine, but damned if that Crayola commercial with the Animal Collective soundtrack isn't the best, like, thirty seconds on television.

• I went and saw 300 last night. Epic? Yes, it was epic. Somewhat uncomfortable due to the costume department's reliance on leather briefs? Yes, it was somewhat uncomfortable due to that. (Raichile, for the record, has been searching for leather briefs for some time now. To match his harness.)

• I found this webpage the other day with the thirteen most beautiful avatars on Second Life. Suspiciously Absent: "Devself Ay." I guess you have to be a supertan dude with bushy eyebrows to apply. What are these guys? Brothers? (Typing this shit is cracking me up.)

• Ok ok ok. I gotta go research magical realism and read a book.

• The above photo is one still frame (Photoshopped a little, yeah) from what was once like the Rolling Stones Holy Grail before the dawn of the internet age.

• As a registered FancyNerd, I am obsessed both by documentaries and typefaces. As such, it is my duty, in some way, to want terribly to see this movie.

• Did you guys know that international weirdo Momus has a column over on the Wired website? Yeah, me neither. But he does.

• Lately old Higginbotham has, from what I understand, been spilling diet sodas on herself and poking out her eyeballs. She sent me some links the other day for me to look at. I have to tell you. I don't know what it is. The websites in question appear to be written in English, and yet I find them impossible to decipher.

• The Rai Chile has an excellent new plan. This is me encouraging the shit out of it. ("Yes!" "Go for it!" "What, really, have you got to lose on this one?" I have said all of these things.) I see your doubts. I can feel them from here. But that shit was a mockumentary, yo! (This is going to be great.)

• Biggie died ten years ago today, and he's still the illest. XXL put up this unreleased Pepsi commercial he did. It's pretty cool. But I think you ought to spend the whole day listening to Life After Death.

• The White Stripes are going to have a new record out "as soon as corporately possible." This is me not being able to wait.

• Here's something I know about the Rai Chile: he is far from being a sneakerhead. (Which is good. Who's a sneakerhead anymore, anyway?) I know this. But I don't care. He NEEDS these shits like Thee Famous Person needs this shit!
