Bird Turds #15

• Here is Bird Turds number fifteen, in which the main character bird continues to have kind of a weird relationship with all other birds with whom he or she comes into contact, be they sentient or inanimate within the context of the comic strip itself.

Also, I kind of love the Drinking Bird, in that I bet that that Miles V. Sullivan cat never had to do anything else after he made it. What a badass.

• It turns out there were way more people aware of the CFY,K technical-difficulty downtime than I would have thought. So, um. Again. Sorry about that. But it's good to have you back, dudes.

• I hear tell that Shaved and Shamanzo had a little old NYC Sarchichan mini-summit. Somebody send pictures. And anyway I live at a midpoint music hub these days and I ain't got friends really so come visit. Also: Isn't it Nebraska's birthday today? Happy birthday, Nebraska.

• In making this post, I will have gotten everything done that I wanted to have gotten done on my day off. I did my laundry, and, in so doing, conducted further market research for my dream to one day own and operate a coin laundry. And I put away the laundry, which, as I'm sure you know, is like a whole additional, more-horrible chore in and of itself .

Also I finally got it together and went to see Iron Man, which completely fucking ruled. I will say that I was as disappointed as the next guy that Dennis Coles didn't make the final cut of the movie. I guess it's kind of cool that it looked like a Ghostface video was playing in Tony Stark's private jet towards the beginning. More than anything, though, I'm at a loss as to why the cameo that Ghostface shot for Iron Man hasn't leaked online as near as I can tell. Because, really, what the hell is the internet good for if I can't watch a leaked Ghostface cameo?

• Today I was on the phone with the Rai Chile and he told me that instead of investing his money into a Nintendo Wii, he's going to buy those running jump-stilt joints and then run his ass to work. Now, if you know the Rai Chile, just for a second imagine that you're stopped at a traffic light or something, and then he fucking comes leap running past you all wearing one of those aerodynamic bike helmets and goggles and a full-blown lycra bodysuit. And like a super-determined look on his face like he's doing the damn thing. Or even, better, with all that going on and like a long-stemmed rose clenched in his teeth. Just thinking of these scenarios made me laugh so hard I almost threw up.

Working With Windows

• And once again, it's been too long. But what do you want for nothin', right? Long story short: moving takes for fucking ever. And it costs a shit-ton.

• It seems like blogging etiquette dictates that I make, on returning, like a gigantic post, to make up for lost time. And perhaps I will soon. But the pressure of that has been keeping me from getting back to CFY,K earlier, so I've decided to just, like, not do that. This way, anyway, I can kind of get back into whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing with this thing. You know.

• Yesterday - the other day? I'm losing track because of the anxiety that comes with being unemployed - I went to this exhibition, and the original scroll from On the Road was there. This, as you might imagine, had a powerful effect on me. The thing about it is, aside from that whole trip being like a sort of weird pilgrimage for me, that it works. You read the thing, and if you can get past the presence of Kerouac's own handwritten corrections, then like. If you skip down a ways, he's somewhere else. Doing something else. Like a road. Never mind.

• I remain a fan of Paul Pope, but I am unimpressed by his new line of DKNY clothing. So. Sorry, buddy.

• I am hereby throwing my hat into the ring of rock and roll poster design, starting with this little one that I have unsolicitedly made for Anvil Rabitt's project. It's got open space so in case if you want to add like a handwritten date/time/venue situation, right?

• Soon there will be many photographs and plants. And more Curtains.

For Personal Use

• As for the delay , I am easily distracted. So.

• I spent the better part of last week in New York City, staying and working with Old Raver, trying to get my country-boy-makes-good on. I think that if I had tried to post before now, you all would have had to wade through a bunch of environmentalist rhetoric and links to helpful tips for green living.

• I will say that Raven Simone, for her part, has exceeded all reasonable expectations in terms of "Good Looking Out." I think that I might formally discontinue my own personal usage of the term "Ravenize" in honor of this. Maybe.

• Also: I managed to get to the big city just in time to give the kid Shamanzo a proper Sarchichan send-off. I think he's in China now. Or somewhere. (A hallmark of Sarchichans, I think, is their innate ability to to arrange their lives in such a way as to be able to just drop everything and go at a moment's notice.) Safe travels, Monsieur Rabbitt.

Lost Ploss in the Ross

• Look at that picture up there. I'm super proud of it.

• With old Higginbotham looking for a new apartment and job in a new place, and with Jush and them all trying to catch the record-breaking ball in Milwaukee, I'd say that the regular readership of CFY,K has, at the moment, dwindled considerably. Far be it from me, though, to desert my stupid blog altogether. Maybe they'll be all embonered when they get back and there's new crap on here.

• Word from the West Coast suggests that Our Friend Anvil Rabbitt would not persuaded to enter into even one Man Cup, holding tightly to his ill-gotten and self-proclaimed Bobby Fischer status. (He has never faced me, and I would wreck his whole spot.)

• In related news, if you were to buy this, you'd both rule and suck in a Ruling-Sucking simulcast. (Same thing for this thing. But, somehow, Raichile's MarioKart phone is pure kickass.)

• I know I've mentioned it before, but if those cats over at FluoKids don't start inviting me to wherever they find all these women hanging out, then they'll be jerks forever. Reading this blog makes me wonder if "Expatriate House DJ Who Lives in Paris or Something" isn't my one true career calling.

Golden Blade III is already getting great reviews. I'm trying to make it up there for the premier, but am making, at press time, no promises.

• I figure we're a Jush visit, a microphone, some non-greasebomb "cans," and one bowl of crabass soup away from the second installment of The Rattlesnake Roundup. I got material, kid! (Really not really.) But seriously. When do we start filming "The Onliest Pawn Shop," the reality TV dramedy starring B-rett? I would watch that.

• I got some ads going on now on the sidebar, as well as some other crap. New motto: "CFY,K: deciding to go pro at the same point at which no one reads anymore." (Even Higginbotham was like 'Man, you put a lot of stuff up since I last checked.')

• Yesterday was Nebraska's birthday. He has the only birthday I ever remember. When I called to, you know, wish him happy birthday, The Hard Goodbye picked up mid-surprise party. It ruled.

• If this kid plays his cards right, they're going to make him King of Alabama.

• According to preeminent hip-hop blogger Bol, 50 Cent probably didn't make 400 million dollars the other day on that Vitamin Water deal.

• Lately, I have to read a lot, so I've been listening, more and more, to music without lyrics. Current rotation: the soundtrack to a movie about French soccer star Zidane written and performed by Mogwai. Shit is hot.

• New mixtape trend (that you sort of have to love): freestyles over rock tracks. Exhibit A: Lil Wayne's version of "Crazy." Exhibit B: Kanye West over Peter Bjorn and John's "Young Folks."

Ear to the Grindstone

• That's a little picture I drew of the Rai Chile. I've been drawing this kind of crap for the past couple of weeks now. Here's a whole strip from a few days ago. I like drawing li'l guys like this because you can make 'em be anything, from videogame ragers to fancy waiters.

• You know how drugs are illegal? It would be weird if drug dealers were like "I guess we have to give drugs away now, because they're illegal," right? Well, that's kind of what happened with mixtape DJ's recently. Por ejemple, you can download tons of Clinton Sparks mixtapes for free now. If you live in Nebraska, you're stoked, because before now you didn't even know about that Pharoahe Monch "Awakening" joint.

• If you live in Hiebradond, though, you need not feel dejected. Because Your Boy has gone through the trouble of sifting through a veritable shit-ton of mp3's to find the original, and - dare I say it - better version of "The Forest." (For you, dog.)

• From the "Best Interbutt Shit Evar" File: Garfield Randomizer.

• And finally, a perfect illustration of my current mood. This is me grinding on school crap till the Challenging Challenge.

We Built A Palace That No Longer Exists

• First, yes. I know what you're thinking: nothing. Or probably nothing, seeing as how you have probably given up on CFY,K altogether, as you have almost certainly long assumed that I have given up on CFY,K altogether. So. What we have here, by posting this post alone, is evidence to the contrary.

• In my defense, let me say this: For a while there I had company. Our own Anvil Rabbitt came down from Hiebradond to kick it for a little while, and to play a show in my town alongside New Friend of Sarchicha, stand-up comedian, and multi-instrumentalist Aubrey Tennant. It was rad. Between marathon pinball sessions (Shamanz is better than me, Aubrey is king), intake of gourmet foods, intensified chillaxing, and the - seriously - five or six papers I had to write while these cats pirateshipped my livingroom, no blogging was taking place.

• Some notes on the show: Anvil got bumped from the night he was supposed to play at the Village Tavern in favor, I guess, of local hero CaryAnn Hearst. (We went. She still rocks. Sundays @ Fluids nostalgia abounded.) I think they should have let him open up or something anyway, because they moved him to the next night, which was a Friday, during which time Young Shamanzo was relegated to playing for a group of people who were all waiting for some kind of heavy metal jam band - if such a thing could ever exist - to start playing. (Read: tough crowd.) Anvil Rabbitt sounded good. New songs were worked out. Slightly older material sounded soaring and anthemic. The crowd, all the while, remained largely indifferent. (They were, after all, there to see a heavy metal jam band.) You know how you read interviews with established bands and they always say, like, 'Man, I remember playing in bars with ten people,' and all those early-road experiences? It seemed like one of those.

• And now for some smaller news: I found this kind of amazing YouTube video of a scene from Pulp Fiction animated in Typography form. (What? Just click it, dude.) I like this especially, because Brett totally sucks in this scene.

• Today I drew a couple of little comic strips in lieu of taking notes in Advanced Fiction Workshop. (It's dumb. You love.)

• And, finally, from the "There's No Decent Explanation As To Why No One Has Informed Me Before" File: Hunter S. Thompson interviews Keef.

How Much Tha Mobb Sold, Curtis?

You've heard this, I imagine. (I subjected Ruth to the whole thing on the car ride home the other day, ha ha.) But whatever.

I don't have a whole lot for you on this post, besides the above hilarious picture of one Gigglestick Magillicutty. I was back home all weekend, watching high-dollar commercials and eating a metric ton of snack food.

The boy Jush got himself a Radocaster. Mind-blowing face-melters are soon to emerge from Camdonia.

Something for to look at: the "on-onedness" of Luca Tieri.

It used to be just an every-once-in-a-while-I-could-go-for-one thing, but now, according to my policy of co-signing everything Hov related, for good (really good), ill (bad meaning bad), or just okay, the staff here at CFY,K is now drinking Cherry Coke instead of Cristal.

Venture Bros season 2 doesn't come out till damn April. Here's some DVD artwork to get your mouth a-waterin'.

Hey, The Hard Goodbye's playing at Good Hurt tonight. They will kill. If you're in the LA area, go there. Make friends with the hot ass bartender ladies. Know that I wish I was there.

Get money, Shamanz.
